Cynomorium (Cynomorium songaricum Rupr.), Cynomorium songaricum Rupr., Cynomorium, Cynomorium perennial parasitic meat herbs, no chlorophyll, the whole plant reddish brown, mostly buried in the sand. On the roots of the genus, there are three types of lock-positive buds of varying sizes, the first to nearly spherical ones, the latter one to the elliptical one or a long columnar one, with many fibrous roots and detached scales. Stems terete, erect, brown, stems embedded in sand with small fibrous roots, base slightly thickened or expanded. Stems lay on spirally detached scaly leaves, gradually sparse upwards; scaly leaves ovate-triangular, very short filaments, anthers with male flowers; pistil also with female flowers. Fruits are nutlet-shaped, mostly very small, subglobose or elliptic, with white pericarp and persistent pale yellow at the top. The seeds are nearly spherical, dark red, and the seed coat is hard and thick. Flowering from May to July, fruiting from June to July. |
